Democracy is on everyone’s lips. Nevertheless, it is not established practice everywhere and is constantly under threat, even where it has long been considered established.
But what does democracy mean in concrete terms in our everyday lives, in our biographies? What historical events and social circumstances have strengthened our belief in it? How could our coexistence become more democratic? What scenarios do we imagine when we think of democracy in the future?
Based on the exhibits in the “Space for Democracy” and the fundamental rights in the German Basic Law, we explore the abstract concept of “democracy” and try to anchor it in our lives. Various writing impulses give us the opportunity to fill it with our memories, thoughts and feelings.
The resulting texts form the basis for dialogue on site. With the option of transferring them to the Kunstmuseum Bonn’s DigitalGuide, they serve as ideas for future visitors to the museum.
