Who are we?
We are the Friends of the Kunstmuseum Bonn! As a registered association, we believe in the importance of civic commitment as an essential part of a functioning society. We are committed to the Kunstmuseum materially and immaterially – as a network of science, economy, art and culture.
Since 1985, we have been supporting the museum in the purchase of new works of contemporary art and Rhenish Expressionism, as well as in educational and exhibition projects for children and young people.
We are friends and need friends!
Visitors are important! But we are looking for more: active supporters!

With your commitment you will be among like-minded friends, take part in the active cultural life, meet and exchange with art and culture lovers. And, of course, enjoy the special friendship of the museum.
Acquisitions by the Friends
Through our financial and immaterial commitment, numerous artworks have been purchased over the years.
Sponsorship foundation
In 2021, the Friends and the Kunstmuseum Bonn established a Sponsorship Foundation to support the museum. This means that donations of works of art that usefully expand and supplement the collection as well as other contributions can now be accepted.
Information membership
The Advantages of your Membership:
- Free admission to the Kunstmuseum Bonn and to the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn.
- Invitation to exclusive exhibition previews in the presence of the artist
- Invitation to exclusive programs of the patrons’ association and to ceremonial acts such as the New Year’s Day reception
- Participation in art trips and excursions in the company of our Museum Director Prof. Dr. Stephan Berg: e.g. to Art Basel or the Venice Biennial
Possible Contributions:
REGULAR: 500 € per year*
JUNIOR (up to the age of 37): 200 € per year
COMPANY MEMBERSHIP: We would be happy to speak with you personally about the ensuing advantages!
*This includes the yearly membership fee of 50 €. A tax-deductible receipt for the contribution in the amount of 450 € is issued.
