BAGS AND COATS

We kindly ask you to leave bags, jackets and coats at the cloakroom on the basement floor of the museum. Using the cloakroom is free of charge.

Due to the increased number of attacks on artworks in museums, large bags, backpacks or similar equipment may currently not be taken into the exhibition spaces. Small handbags that allow you to carry your cell phone, wallet, medication with you are exmept from this regulation.

Offer for refugees

Refugees who can prove their status as a refugee by means of a document issued by the immigration authorities will be admitted free of charge.

Every Sunday from 11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. our Atelier am Sonntag takes place – for guests of all ages, with support and assistance needs, with and without art experience. Refugees are welcome to participate in these workshops free of charge. The number of participants is limited, participation tickets can be picked up at the museum counter before the events starts. All dates of the Atelier am Sonntag can be found in our calendar.

BARRIER-FREE ACCESSIBILITY

The Kunstmuseum Bonn is obstacle-free and accessible to handicapped visitors and wheelchair users. Extra-wide entrance doors may be found alongside two revolving-door entrances: at the entrances from the side of the building where the subway station is located as well as behind the museum along the Emil-Nolde-Straße. Wheelchairs and children’s strollers are available at the cloakroom on the basement floor. The elevator (width: 80 cm) is located alongside the main stairway. It allows you to reach all three levels of the museum. Our studios for workshops are in a separate building. They are situated at ground level and are easily accessible.

CORRECTIVE GLASSES FOR RED-GREEN COLOR-BLINDNESS

Glasses for visitors with red-green color-blindness may be borrowed at the museum ticket counter.

Toilets

Handicapped-accessible toilets are located on the basement level of the museum. A medical room with a lounger for reclining is likewise available on the basement level.

GASTRONOMY

Ever since its opening in 1993, the Café in the Kunstmuseum Bonn has maintained a well-received gastronomic presence at the Museumsmeile.
The bright rooms create a comfortable atmosphere. The extensive outdoor terrace is heated in the transition period between the warm and cold seasons and offers a sweeping view onto the Museumsplatz.

MUSEUM SHOP

In the Walther König Bookshop in the lobby of the Kunstmuseum Bonn, you will find specialist literature on the themes of Expressionism, German art after 1945 and Video Art as well as exhibition catalogues. An exquisite selection of design- and gift-articles, postcards and posters rounds out the offerings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHERE IS THE CLOAKROOM LOCATED?

You will find our free-of-charge cloakroom on the basement level of the museum.

Large bags (larger than 30 x 40 cm), backpacks, briefcases etc. as well as bulky items (e.g. umbrellas) must be left in the cloakroom.
Please remove articles of value before handing over such items; we cannot assume any liability for valuables left in the cloakroom.
We also ask you to leave your coat in the cloakroom. Smaller handbags may be taken into the exhibition spaces.

IS THERE A WIRELESS NETWORK IN THE MUSEUM?

Free WLAN is available in the museum lobby. Simply access the WLAN Bonn.Nett. You can find our digital offerings here.

IS THERE SEATING IN THE EXHIBITION ROOMS?

In addition to sitting on benches in several exhibition rooms, you have the possibility of borrowing folding chairs at the ticket counter and taking them into the exhibition rooms. This offer is free of charge.

ARE PHOTOGRAPHING, PAINTING AND DRAWING ALLOWED IN THE MUSEUM?

The photographing (without a flash) and filming of exhibition objects is permitted for private use, scholarly purposes and journalistic reporting. You can receive information in this regard at the ticket counter.

Special authorization is required for commercial photographs and film recordings and is subject to a fee. You will find further information in this regard in the area “Rental” (here).

The use of flash, portable spotlight or tripod is not allowed out of consideration for other visitors and in order to protect the works of art.

A sketchpad with a maximum format of DIN A3 and pencils (no colored pencils) may be taken into the exhibition spaces.

WHAT ABOUT TELEPHONING, EATING AND DRINKING IN THE MUSEUM?

Please have understanding for the fact that telephoning in the museum is not allowed. Eating and drinking as well as smoking are likewise not permitted in the exhibition rooms.

Legal guardians and group leaders are responsible for the appropriate behavior of children and young persons under their supervision.

The main responsibility of the supervisory personnel is to keep the exhibited objects from being damaged.
